With media attention relating to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) and its potential spread throughout our region we understand it may be causing concern within our community.
In order to protect our volunteers and clients from (COVID-19) we have decided to suspend operating from our GFRC Freedman St North Geelong as of 3.00pm Friday 3rd April 2020 until further notice.
Prior to the suspension of both our minimart and bulk distribution service, GFRC will continue to operate
daily 10.00am – 3.00pm Monday 30th March – Thursday 2nd April with GFRC providing free perishables to both voucher recipients and health care card holders on Friday 3rd April subject to availability.
To protect the welfare of all who visit our Freedman St site security will be employed during our operating hours, allowing controlled access to our site.
Further to the above interim operational changes effective Monday 6th April, GFRC will be assisting Red Cross Geelong with Emergency Food Hamper logistics throughout the Geelong region.
Effective Monday 23rd March Emergency Food Hampers can be accessed by calling Victoria’s dedicated coronavirus hotline on 1800 675 398. This hotline can also refer people to other support services if required.
GFRC will continue to navigate through this unprecedented emergency, although we foresee challenging times ahead for all working within the welfare sector.
Thank you for your on-going support and understanding and we will continue to keep you updated.
